An interactive children's book was created to demonstrate the results of my research paper, Digitalizing Children’s Picture Books: Using Technology to Reinvent Traditional Books. The goal of this research was to create a digital children’s picture book that retains the conventions of physical books while promoting engagement and interactivity. I researched successful children's books of 2022 and existing digital books to compare how effective they were in terms of engagement, such as incorporating touch and feel for physical books or including sound effects for digital books. Research revealed that commercially produced digital books are too focused on replicating traditional books in digital form rather than enhancing traditional storytelling elements through digital technology. In my digital book, I incorporated a choose-your-own-adventure type of story and used Figma to mock up the interactive elements. The reader can respond to parts of the story and be immersed in a more interactive and engaging experience.
